American Ingenuity continues today...

For years I have been selling my favorite USA toy: the Sock Easy at Cookiescreations.com and have received more thank yous than we can count from customers who love it.  The Sock Easy is 100% American designed and produced in the United States. And to this we credit Beverly Jones aka our Aunt Sue.  American ingenuity begins with a dream: She has been sewing since high school.  She currently is on her third Brother embroidery/sewing machine and has loved every one of them.

I asked her, what was the inspiration to create it? "My inspiration for the Sock-Easy came about when one of my nephew's wanted me to monogram a pair of socks for him.  I went to the sewing store and didn't like the price or the way the sock holders worked.  I came home and got a clothes hanger and made my simple first Sock-Easy. I wanted it simple to use and figured it out as best I could and it worked great for me.  When I showed it to Judy at Ace Sewing store, she insisted that I should make them."  And from there Judy gave me one and I was sold on it!  Within a year I shared with Sue that customers were looking for an infant sized one, and within 2 weeks a smaller unit was designed and the rest is history.

Sue's other interests  include knitting, crochet, oil and water color painting. She received a degree in accounting late in life and worked out of the home most of her life. Note my hat and scarf - a BSJ creation!  And here I am still working on my "un-knitted" sweater...

When asked if she had any words of encouragement to others:

"I would encourage any one to pursue their ideas.  I knew nothing about patents but learned quickly.  I know God was my guide because I felt it in each step I took down the road to the end result of the Sock-Easy and the patent". In our family, Sue has a special place in our hearts and she continues to be an inspiration to each of us.

Thank for telling us about Aunt Sue's development of the Sock Easy. How nice! I'm enjoying the history of the sewing machine, too!

Thank you Marjorie for the note. Beverly "Sue" is an incredibly delightful woman. My family is "smitten" with her because of her caring spirit and kindness. Stay warm, we now have 6+ inches of snow in our area. Good day for sewing which is what I am doing for the final pictures to send in to the AEC.
