What do you sell? A networking world...

Do you attend networking events?  If the answer is no, you should reconsider the benefits which are numerous including name presence, business mentoring, leads, support and often workshops on topics of importance to you.  There are different types of networks based on needs.  Hobbyists network, too, which keeps them current with trends. Ask others for networking recommendations in your area. Once you are ready to give it a try consider these tips:

  • Show up prepared to tell others what you do in 2 minutes. This is referred to as the elevator speech.
  • Make it memorable and share what the benefits  are to the listener and what sets you apart.  Naming your "business or hobby" is not enough.
  • Skip the explanation of the creative process and focus on why your product (and service) is outstanding for your audience.
  • The social networking event should not end at the conclusion of the meeting.  Send a follow-up note to those you connected with.

Make that 2 minute elevator speech count!   Otherwise you are just one more name in a stack of business cards gathered at a networking social event. Share your talent and skills with others :)
