How to be totally Stable - Part 3 Cutaway Stabilizer

Featured on ItsSewEasy, PBS. Episode 209 Cutaway & fleece made the front of this pillow soft yet totally stable.

Cutaway stabilizer is a favorite choice for clothing but in my own world it is truly loved in the creation of fashion accessories and home dec items. This type of stabilizer remains in the finished project.  Most brands offer cutaway in black, white and “nude”. On the back side of the embroidery you will trim away the excess visible cutaway. This stabilizer is available in several weights.  Match the weight of the stabilizer to the weight and drape of the fabric. Using embroidery spray adhesive is suggested but optional. Perfect to use with heavier weighted items that shrink as in medium to heavy weight T-shirts, sweatshirts.  A sheer cutaway is great with lightweight fabrics and knits.  When hooping with two layers, place them with grains running in perpendicular.

The cutaway was trimmed as an interfacing and the designs featured are Patricia’s Floral Machine Embroidery Design Set.
